In March Jared had a convention in San Diego so we made a vacation out of it and also went to Disneyland. We spent the fist night at Aunt Janene and Uncle Richard's house.
| Eli so excited to be off the airplane and out of the car. |
| It was too cold to swim in the pool, so Richard heated up the hot tub for us. |
| Eli started like this and ended up completely naked in the hot tub. |
| Beautiful sunset from their front yard. |
| They had a huge lemon tree that hadn't been picked from for a while, hence this huge lemon. |
| Almost as big as Jared's head! |
| Not so great on the inside. |
| On Sunday after church we went to the ocean. There were some beautiful tide pools with cool ocean life. |
| Eli took a little while to get used to the sand, but ended up loving it. |
| We went to seal beach where it was baby season! |
| A quick drive by the San Diego temple. |
| On Monday we headed to Sea World. |
| It took a while for Halle to be brave enough to touch dead fish. |
| These birds stole the fish either directly out of your hand or as they were falling down to the seals. |
| Basking in the sun. |
| FEED ME! |
We went to the dolphin and orca shows and sat in the "soak section" at each. Halle was not happy. At the dolphin show we sat on the front row in the middle section. We were soaked and Halle was not happy. After the first splash Jared had to sit on Halle's lap because she was so upset. It was so worth smelling like dead fish and dolphin poop. I would do it all over again. However, for the orca show time it was much colder outside. Jared and I still sat in the soak zone, but took our ponchos. That was a smart idea; man those things have a HUGE splash. Halle didn't trust our ponchos and sat far far away with Joan and Eli.
| Nasty hair after the poopy fish water dried in our hair. |
On Tuesday while Jess and Jared were at the convention the rest of us went to the San Diego Zoo. I think we only saw maybe half the zoo and were completely exhausted after walking up this one particularly giant hill. I was pushing the stroller and Halle noticed I was struggling, so she got behind me, put her hands on my butt and started pushing me up the hill.
| The first thing we did upon arriving is to get on the bus tour, which Eli promptly fell asleep on. |
| Flamingos were her favorite, so she wanted a picture with them. |
| For some reason these condors wanted to tear apart Halle's bag she got with her lunch. It was really funny. |
| Red Pandas, one of my favorite. They are just so pretty! |
| I think this was his second nap. |
On Wednesday while Jess and Jared were at the convention we picked up Joan's dad, Great Grandpa, or "GP" as we call him and went to the beach and the Mormon Batallion Museum were GP used to work.
Great Grandpa's house.
| First we went over the Coronado Bridge to the beach. |
| GP used to work at the museum. About 10 years ago while working he fell off this wall into the parking lot and broke his neck. The green fence you see to the left was put up about a week after his fall. |
| Searching for gold. |
| Pumping water. |
| After we dropped off Grandpa we went on a very lengthy walk to try to get Eli to take a nap before dinner cruise that would be lasting until 10 PM. This is the USS Midway. |
| This ship was pretty cool. |
| We saw Uncle Kenny kite surfing in the bay by our hotel. |
Later that night we went on a dinner cruise in the bay. Even though Eli didn't take a nap on our long walk he did great. Halle danced the night away with anyone willing to join her. The next day we went to Disneyland, which I will save for another post.
