June 2013

We were so busy this month and got lots of pictures because I’m not working!  It has been so awesome.  I can sit and read novels outside while the kids ride their bikes, or read on the couch while Eli naps and Halle plays with friends.  I can bake with Halle, we call them Treat Tuesdays.  I can have dinner ready everyday promptly at 5:30 when Jared walks in the door, and that dinner will have multiple courses including fruits and veggies.  I know we’re eating healthier, and I’m enjoying taking my time cooking meals.  So, here’s what we did in June, with the exception of our trip to Alaska.

Aunt Janae fostered a pregnant chihuahua. She had 3 puppies which Eli named Blackie, Eli, and Paepa.  Halle didn’t want to hold them, then she finally got brave enough to hold 1, then 2, then all 3.  She go to watch them nurse and thought that was pretty cool.

May 2013

Jared was going to the chiropractor a few days a week, so I’d meet him and feed Eli lunch.  One day we went to Sugarhouse Park to watch the geese.

5.08.13-1

Halle was constantly disagreeing with us in the car on the way to Grandma Koren’s, so Jared pulled off the freeway into a parking lot and made her stand in time out.  It was Sunday and there weren’t any cars around, so it’s not like she was being humiliated in front of others.

May is the season for the annual crawfish boil!5.18.13-15.18.13-3

Eli wanted to say cheese and have a photo session.5.19.13-25.19.13-4

5.19.13-65.22.13-2

Halle got her hair cut on May 25.  We’ve done minor trims, but nothing like what we did that day.  She was fed up with me brushing her hair and decided she wanted it cut.  I figured she’s old enough to make that decision.  I made the appointment, which she promptly wanted me to cancel because she was so nervous.  I made her go through with it because I thought she would really like her hair short (and she does).

Before (and right before a soccer game)”

5.25.13-15.25.13-2

This is during the soccer game, right before the haircut.5.25.13-115.25.13-12

During. She’s never had her hair washed in a sink and she liked it.5.25.13-30

She wasn’t mad about the haircut, I just happened to catch her making this face.

5.25.13-33

She wasn’t a huge fan of having her hair blow dried.

5.25.13-34

After:

5.25.13-35

We played in Grandma Joan’s backyard on a new water slide thing she got.  I think this is Eli’s first experience in a hammock, and he loved it.

5.27.13-1

Halle, Eli, Amyah.

5.27.13-45.27.13-5

On our way home Eli fell asleep, and stayed asleep when I laid him on the couch.  Jared told me to wake him up because he was afraid he wouldn’t go to bed later that night.  Instead I just sat there and stared at him.  He was so cute I felt horrible waking him!5.27.13-85.27.13-10

Cuteness.

5.30.13-2

In February we prayed hard and decided it was time to leave my job and be a full time mom.  I gave 3.5 months notice, and May 31 was my last day at the U.  I worked there for almost 10 years!5.31.13-2

To celebrate we went to a Girls Night Out thing at Thanksgiving Point.  Sadly this is the only picture I took, but it’s a great one.5.31.31-4

.4.13.13
Eli threw up in the car, so Jared brought him in, car seat and all, and just put him in the bath tub.  This was the beginning of a journey of figuring out why he was vomiting and had diarrhea on such a regular, almost daily or twice daily, basis.  After trial and error, and stool samples it was determined he is mildly lactose intolerant.  We are carefully controlling how much milk and cheese he consumes.  The child was drinking at least 1/2 gallon of milk/day.  We’ve started limiting him to 24 oz of milk (“only” 1/4 gallon) and we haven’t had an issue since the official diagnosis.
4.13.13-24.16.13-1
Just a cute picture of Halle’s hair after having it in a sock bun.
4.21.13
My mom is fostering this giant papillon named Pappy.  He started out at a whopping 33 pounds.  He is so sweet, and snorts like a pig when he eats.  It’s hilarious.  If you’re in the market for a VERY sweet, obedient, giant, 10 year old papillon, he’s your guy.
