October 2015

By October Janae and Jason knew they were going on a 2 year adventure to Australia. We thought we would dog sit Mozzie for that two years so whenever she went out of town we gave it a trial run. Patch and Mozzie are good buddies and enjoy playing together.

Over General Conference weekend we reserved a time to hike to and get a tour of Timp Cave. Halle wants to be a geologist when she’s older, so this was a fun opportunity for her.

Yay for football season!

We did two hikes in one day. First was Silver Lake up by Brighton, then we hiked to a waterfall in Draper. But before heading out, we tried to convince David to roll over. Wow, kids make your house look like a tornado came through!

That’s what we get for trying to see a waterfall in October…not so much water left to fall.

Over UEA break Jess and Joan rented a beautiful house at Sundance. From the balcony of the house you could see Stuart Falls, so we hiked up there a few times. The first time was with Alyvia as a test run because we weren’t sure how far it would be. Second time was with the whole group. It was maybe a 20-30 minute hike from the house. Usually it’s at least 3 miles from the trail head.

We did a fun zip line tour in the canyon.

The kids made Halloween gingerbread houses. (Side note…my mom’s dog ate this whole thing, AND Halle’s after Patch stole them off the counter at my house a few days later…I’m not sure if she knows about that or not. I can only assume Patch stole them because he’s tall enough to scrape them off the counter with his paws, and I’m SURE Pappy ate them because there was throw up everywhere and more to come once I got home. Patch had no bowel issues.)

I guess we were tired.

I remember Eli telling me he wanted me to take a picture of him and David to send to dad.

Eli celebrated his birthday. All he wanted was to watch “Jack Skellington” with his friends. So we did that with some pizza and glowing balloons.

September 2015

David’s first season of football started, an exciting time for all!

He also got his shots, whic made him very very sad.

Jared and I went to NYC by ourselves. Earlier in the year we read that Alfie Boe would play Jean val Jean in Les Mis on Broadway. We watched him in the 25th anniversary concert on PBS and fell in love with this voice. He’s just incredible, so we just had to go. We only went two nights over Labor Day weekend, but we did a lot. We also saw Something Rotten and Matilda.

Oh Alfie. He was WONDERFUL. When he saw me he even commented that he saw me on the first row. Probably because my jaw was dropped and my face looked giddy the whole time. BUT, this first picture is actually from going to the stage door after Matilda; I couldn’t wait until the next day to actually meet him.

After we actually SAW him in Les Mis. Maybe he remembered me as the crazy stalker from the night before. Jared wasn’t allowed in the picture this time.               

Meanwhile, Jess and Joan were in London, and my parents had the kids, and they were awesomely put to work.

David was lucky to get out of chores. Except he had to go for a walk in the freezing cold, and get tortured by siblings in a doll stroller.

Sometimes people that either don’t have kids, or haven’t had young kids for a while, give your kids stuff they shouldn’t. In this case Eli got a pen. Four year olds shouldn’t have pens.

We walked around Cascade Springs in AF Canyon with Janae and her family. It was obviously beautiful, and was the prefect stroller friendly “hike” in the mountains.

Jason totally photo bombed us. These were the first pictures we had together as a family since David was born. We literraly did not take a single full family picture in the 4 months prior.

After digging to fix the water main leak, we looked under the walk way to a giant void and decided before our whole sidewalk and driveway collapsed that we should fix the issue. It was at least a 6 inch void, if not more. Concrete pouring created entertainment for the kids and their friends.

There was a very cool blood moon.

We remodeled our bathroom. When I was 9 months pregnant I was taking a nice relaxing bath in our jetted tub, when Jared ran upstairs and told me to get out. Water was pouring through the ceiling. We discovered that one of the jets was completely busted. Jared was able to caulk it to last us a few months until we could afford to change things up. As long as we didn’t fill the tub, and just showered everything was good. When they tore apart the tub, luckily there was no water damage and Jared’s caulk did a great job at preventing further leakage. We opted out of a tub and got a shower with dual shower heads.

 

And that’s September! One month down, 12 more to go to catch up!
